What you said made a lot of sense. But, think about this, what if you composed a catchier post title? I mean, I don't want to tell you how to run your website, however suppose you added a post title to possibly get a person's attention? I mean %BLOG_TITLE% is a little plain. You could peek at Yahoo's home page and see how they create article titles to get viewers to click. You might add a related video or a related pic or two to grab people interested about everything've written. In my opinion, it could make your website a little livelier.
